Please write to the warden at the Communications Management Unit, Terre Haute, Indiana, and ask him to look into the medical conditions in the unit because the health care is so poor it is a threat to the health and sometimes the life of the prisoners. “When my home was ransacked, one of the government’s main targets was my library. They nearly emptied it. What did they take? They took my Islamic books, they came looking for books of certain authors and took all these authors’ books. They took Quran recitation tapes even though these books and tapes are available at any book store.

“They didn’t touch my Encyclopedia Britannica, my Encyclopedia of the American History, none of the books of Richard Nixon or Henry Kissinger (more…)

[Katherine: Below is a letter from Rafil about his transfer and new prison situation at Terre Haute, Indiana. The first part of the letter was written around December 17, 2006; it was completed on January 18, 2007 and received on February 3, 2007.]

I am writing you from Terre Haute, Indiana where I was just moved. I was put in isolation for 2 days before the move in what I know now was a nationwide operation to put Muslims/Arabs in one place so that we can be closely monitored regarding our communications, be it our phone calls or visits or correspondence. Dr. Dhafir was moved to Terre Haute Prison and below is an excerpt from a letter he wrote on December 18th:

“So far we are treated fairly and with respect. There are 16 of us from all over the country (predominantly Muslim/Arabs) and we are told to expect up to 75. It is an experiment ordered by the Attorney General personally. Please let me know if this is mentioned in the news media.” (more…)
