Muslims have been unfairly treated by the Bush Administration since 911. There have been many unjust prosecutions involving guilt by association, innuendo and twisted sting operations designed to entrap those the government has decided it doesn’t like. These cases have trampled the constitutional rights of the defendants and put us all at risk. Come learn about a few of these cases and participate in discussion of where to go from here. (more…)

Oral arguments in Dr. Dhafir’s appeal will be heard on Thursday, August 28th, 2008, at 10 a.m., at the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City.

We will not know until the week before the arguments which three judges will sit on the panel. A decision will not be taken from the bench on that day, but will be given some months later.

The Return of Legalized Profiling…

Recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit issued a series of decisions mimicking an odd dance. The end result? The first jury verdict in favor of the plaintiff in a post-9/11 airline racial profiling case against a company that was overturned. The outcome is devastating to all people who suffer discrimination and seek a remedy in court. However, the process by which this decision was reached may be even more disturbing than the outcome.
