[District Attorney Suddaby prosecuted the Muslim “terrorist” cases of Dr. Rafil Dhafir and Yassin Aref and Mohammed Hossain.]
By Mark Weiner and Jim O’Hara Syracuse Post-Standard 9/19/07
“U.S. Attorney Glenn T. Suddaby, a career prosecutor who has served as the region’s top federal law enforcer since 2002, will be nominated by President Bush to become a federal judge.”
See the full article.
The article erroneously states,
“…The office prosecuted Dr. Rafil Dhafir, a Manlius oncologist, on charges he planned to use charitable contributions to support a terrorist organization in Iraq. Dhafir was sentenced in 2005 to 22 years in prison.”
Dhafir was never charged with or allowed to defend himself in a court of law against anything to do with terrorism, although the government continued to smear him aided and abetted by the press.
See this short news video of Suddaby after the Dhafir’s verdict came down. At this press conference Suddaby disputes the defense complaint that although Dhafir’s prosecution was motivated by the ‘war on terror,’ he was never permitted to defend this charge in a court of law. Why has the Post-Standard in all its coverage of the case never attempted to get any government official to respond to its continuing double-speak in the case of Dr. Rafil Dhafir.
