Peter Goldberger and Barry Boss will represent Dr. Dhafir for his appeal.

I am very happy that Dr. Dhafir has been able to engage these attorneys and I think it will give Dr. Dhafir the best possible chance for a successful appeal. I’ve included some information below with links.

Peter Goldberger serves as “Of Counsel” to the firm and practices out of the Philadelphia office. He is a former law professor at the Villanova University and Whittier College Law Schools, where he taught criminal law and procedure, sentencing and post-conviction remedies. He has published in the fields of parole and sentencing, among other areas. He served as law clerk to U.S. District Judge Edward R. Becker, later Chief Judge (now Senior Judge) of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Mr. Goldberger was educated at Haverford College and Yale Law School. He is an unusually effective appellate advocate, admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and most of the federal circuits. Peter has been appointed twice by the Supreme Court of the United States to argue for indigent defendants with complex sentencing issues.  In 1996 he co-authored, with Pamela Wilk, a 200-page manual on federal criminal appeals, later published by West Publishing Co. as part of a two-volume treatise on Federal Appellate Procedure that Peter co-edited with a Third Circuit judge and another attorney. He has served as Vice-Chair of NACDL’s Appellate Advocacy Committee and has taught Appellate Advocacy at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He also serves as co-chair of NACDL’s Committee on Rules of Procedure, as a vice chair of its amicus curiae committee, and on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Goldberger has been listed for ten years in “Best Lawyers in America and was named in 1999 by Philadelphia magazine as one of the top criminal defense lawyers in Philadelphia.  In 2004 and 2005 he was named a Pennsylvania SuperLawyer in the speciality of appellate practice.
