Friends of Human Rights, formed in Tampa, FL by a group of progressive Christians when Dr. Sami Al-Arian was arrested, will hold a press conference outside the Courthouse following the hearing. Friends of Human Rights has expanded to include other faiths and is concerned about human rights for people everywhere.

Friends of Human Rights has supported Dr. Al-Arian since his arrest. Members attended his trial every day, wrote letters on his behalf, and traveled to attend hearings after the decision of the jury. On Friday, the group will travel to Alexandria, Virginia, to attend the hearing.

Americans around the country have consistently called for justice for Sami Al-Arian. Although the jury did not return a single guilty verdict, he is not yet free two and a half years later. An innocent man has spent nearly six years in prison, and we call for his release.
