a novel by J. D. Salinger.

I read this book 27 years ago when I was an Au-Pair inVienna, Austria and I’ve recently been thinking a lot about the main character Holden Caulfield. Throughout the book Holden refers to adults that he believes to be insincere as “phonies”. Even though I’m not 17 (Holden is) I’ve found myself thinking the same thing about a lot of adults that I have contacted over the last year.

I got the book at the local library yesterday and I have just read the first two chapters. The book is just the tonic that I need: Holden’s honesty is refreshing and funny.
